NSA closes down Accra and Cape Coast stadiums for ‘minor’ works

Ghana are racing against time to get an appropriate home venue for their next clash against Sudan.

The National Sports Authority (NSA) has closed down the Accra Sports Stadium and Cape Coast Stadium for ‘minor’ works, 3Sports understands.

This comes about a week after the body closed down the Baba Yara Sports stadium for maintenance after CAF withdrew their approval of the facility for Black Stars home matches in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers.

Ghana are currently in a race to get one stadium ready for their AFCON 2025 qualifiers home game against Sudan in early October, with the Ministry of Youth and Sports instructing the GFA to engage CAF to inspect the Accra Sports Stadium and the University of Ghana Stadium for their suitability.

As it stands, Ghana may play their home game away from home with Togo earmarked as a possible destination unless one of their stadiums undergoes a facelift on time.

The Black Stars are currently third in Group F of the qualifiers with one point from two games.
