The Government of Ghana has announced a three-day national mourning period in honour of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, who passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Information, government directed that all national flags be flown at half-mast across the country to pay tribute to the memory and legacy of the distinguished stateswoman.
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, was widely respected for her remarkable contributions to women’s empowerment, democracy, and national development. She founded the 31st December Women’s Movement, which played a key role in advancing gender equality and promoting social welfare in Ghana.
