Ada chiefs urge Bawumia to put them on government payroll if he wins power
Chiefs of Ada East have requested the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to put them on government payroll when he becomes president.
According to the chiefs, this will help them provide financial support to their subjects who come to their palaces for support.
Spokesperson of the chiefs, Nene Osushe Akwe II made the call when Dr Bawumia and his campaign team took visited the constituency.
” Day in day out, people go to the chiefs, my husband is sick, my wife is in labour, my daughter is in the hospital, my daughter is going to school I need money”
“Mr President, we are requesting that when God helps you, we will all help you to come into power like our parliamentary candidate”.
“The chiefs need to be on a payroll to help the people in the community so that whoever comes to us for help. So Mr Vice President, we will be glad. Do not forget the chiefs to be on payroll”.
In response, Dr mahamudu Bawumia renewed his commitment to introduce ” a living allowance” for chiefs across the country.
He agreed with the challenges that the chiefs are facing currently.
“One thing that I support, we are going to pay a living allowance to the chiefs, not only chiefs, our queen mothers and divisional chiefs as well,” Dr Bawumia reiterated.
The flag bearer also assured the Ada residents of fixing their roads and addressing other challenges in the community.
‘” I have heard all the issues here in Ada,, roads will be fixed,” he promised.
